ABOUT
Caitlin Durante (she/they) is a Los Angeles-based comedian, writer, podcaster, instructor, story analyst, Paddington fan, and other nouns.
She is the co-creator and co-host of The Bechdel Cast, a comedy podcast that examines movies through an intersectional feminist lens. Learn more about the podcast here!
Caitlin has performed standup as well as live Bechdel Cast shows all over, including in festivals like Edinburgh Fringe, the New York Comedy Festival, San Francisco Sketchfest, the Women in Comedy Festival, and the Out of Bounds Comedy Festival. Click here to see if Caitlin has any upcoming shows!

An introductory screenwriting course, suitable for complete beginners, someone who needs a screenwriting refresher, or even someone who just wants to be held accountable to develop a story. The course meets weekly for eight weeks, with three-hour sessions each class. The material focuses on narrative feature-length film and covers the basics... story, structure, characterization, theme, dialogue, screenplay format, and much more.
By the end of the course, students will have finished the first draft of a treatment (a detailed synopsis) for an original feature film. Students will workshop their treatment during class and receive constructive feedback from their classmates and instructor.

An online screenwriting course that focuses on students workshopping their writing and receiving constructive feedback (as well as giving feedback to classmates). Students can work on any project, at any stage of the writing process... a treatment, an outline, screenplay pages, a short film, a TV pilot or spec, an idea you've been developing, or anything in between!
The first week of this seven-week course will involve students getting to know each other and pitching their story, and the remaining six weeks of class will be made up of workshops. Students will be assigned one of two groups, and each student will workshop their writing three times throughout the course (every other class).

Not ready to commit to a full class? Take Caitlin's two-day online workshop (four hours total) that introduces you to the very basics of screenwriting. If you like the mini-class and want to move on to Caitlin's eight-week Intro to Screenwriting class, guess what? The price of the mini will be deducted from the intro class registration fee -- you just pay the difference!

Caitlin offers thoughtful, constructive notes on a variety of projects written for the screen. She will read your work (whether it’s a feature screenplay, pilot, spec, short, web series, treatment, outline, whatever), and provide thorough notes on what’s working, what needs further development, and how to turn your draft into a polished, marketable script.
Caitlin has nearly two decades of experience reading scripts for various studios, production companies, literary agencies, screenplay contests, and individual writers.
Rates vary depending on length of project and are available upon request.
